Michael Weedman:

I'm your host, Michael Weedman, and I would like to say thank you for taking the time and joining us tonight on the podcast. The Fivefold Podcast focuses on the Fivefold Ministry and the importance of that ministry in today's society. We believe that there is still a need for apostles, for prophets, for pastors, for teachers, for evangelists. They haven't ceased. They're still in operation today and necessary for the success of today's church. So join with us as we dive into this episode of the Fivefold Podcast and what is happening. Everybody, welcome to this evening's episode of the Fivefold Podcast. I'm your host, Michael Weedman, and let's get into this. So tonight I was actually doing a lot of preparing for another book that I'm actually in the process of writing and I figured I would share a little bit of what I'm working on with us. It's going to be kind of a comprehensive study, just like I did with my first two books. I did a comprehensive study on Colossians and then a comprehensive study on Ephesians. Now the purpose of these books and the reason why I call them a comprehensive study is because my goal is to make it where the average person who doesn't really get deep into studying the Word of God can pick it up and they can read it and they can say, okay, I understand this. And in hopes of doing that, it'll make them want and hunger for more, for more of the word, for more of that study, for more of that time in the Word of God. That's my goal, that should be the goal of all of us, not just pastors, not just evangelists, but the whole five-fold in general. What does the scripture say in Ephesians about the five-fold that God gave? Gifted men right, he gave gifts to men. He gave us apostles, prophets, evangelist, teachers and pastors. All of these are for what? To edify the body of Christ, to edify the church, to edify the saints and to equip the saints for the work of ministry.

Michael Weedman:

To allow the average lay saint that doesn't necessarily take the time to study, that doesn't necessarily should take time to study, let me just say that. But not not not preparing for a Sunday morning sermon every week. So they're not every day in the Word of God seeking how they can find certain things in the Word of God. They, they, they rely a lot. The everyday saint, the average saint, relies a lot on the pastor or the evangelist or whoever is preaching or ministering, even the teacher who is teaching that week to give them their nourishment, spiritually, their their meat. But the goal of these comprehensive studies that I that I feel like the Lord has has required of me to write, is to help the person who doesn't necessarily study every week to understand the Word of God in a way that opens up their eyes to what the scripture is actually saying.

Michael Weedman:

I'm not adding anything to the scripture, matter of fact. I I preach against adding to the scripture, and I think every minister should preach against adding to the scripture, because we do not add or take away from the Word of God. Matter of fact, the scripture actually teaches us that if we add to or take away, the same will be done to us. I mean, we're our names could be taken out of the Lamb's book of life because we've decided we wanted to give somebody our interpretation or our idea of something and added to the Word of God. The Word of God stands on its own. It doesn't need my opinion. The Word of God does not need my backing in order for it to stand. The Word of God stands alone. I am blessed and I'm privileged to be able to open up the Word of God and minister to people that are listening and hungry for, for, for righteousness. Scripture says, matthew chapter five blessed with those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. That's the whole purpose of these. And so, like I said, I did Colossians, I did Ephesians and I've actually in the process of working on Galatians and Corinthians, first and second Corinthians. But one of the things that the Lord kind of recently has stopped me and said okay, I need to work on this is the book of Revelation.

Michael Weedman:

I was raised by in the apostolic movement. I was raised by a minister who said stay away from the book of Revelation because it can scare you and it can confuse you, and it can. And so for the most of my childhood and the most of my early years, I never really dealt with anything in relations. I never, ever, ever, ever, ever really got into Revelation and started studying Revelation because I was, you know, I wasn't ever encouraged to study Revelations. But as I began to to seek out the truth on my own and as I began to to get into the Word of God on my own, and my own hunger and my own thirst for the Word of God, I began to study these things. And I realize, you know, and I'll mention it.

Michael Weedman:

But the scripture actually says that blessed is he who readeth and heareth the words of this prophecy, god, god, there's a blessing in reading, studying and understanding the Book of Revelation. The Book of Revelation is not some mystical book that only the chosen and only the elect are able to understand. The Holy Ghost can give any one of us the revelation that we need when we open up and we begin to study the Word of God. All knowledge of the Word of God, all revelation, all knowledge and understanding comes from the Spirit of God. It is not.

Michael Weedman:

I didn't go to seminary school. I didn't go to a Bible college and learn how to study and learn how to read. This was birthed in me from a young age and a hunger to read and a hunger to study and a hunger to search the scriptures myself. I had a hunger within me that said, I need to get deeper into the Word of God. I wanna hear how many of you guys have ever heard some. I say I wish God would speak to us the way he used to speak to those in the Old Testament, or the prophets of God in the Old Testament. I wish God would speak to us. Guess what God speaks to us. He gave us his Word. He gave us 66 books of his Word that we can open up and we can hear the voice of God even in 2024 through the scriptures. We can hear the voice of God and understand the will of God just through the scriptures. Now, the book of Revelation, this comprehensive study that I'm working on, is going to be it's gonna be more than something I can explain to you in this 30 minute time period of this podcast, but I believe that tonight I can lay a little bit of a foundation that might encourage you and encourage those who are hearing this to study and to open it up yourselves and to know. Now we have to understand.

Michael Weedman:

First, the book of Revelation was written sometime. I believe it was. I don't have to pull up my notes here in a minute, but without looking at my notes, it was written sometime near the 60, 80, 50, 80, somewhere in that time. It was written by the apostle John, who was exiled to the Isle of Patmos. Now, the story of John is amazing. John was the one who was with Jesus. He was close to Jesus. Jesus loved him. But the thing about John is at the end of his life, here, towards the end of his life is when he writes Revelation. They attempt to murder him, they beat him, they imprison him, they put him in boiling tar and when that doesn't kill him, they exile him to this island to live out the rest of his days. And on this Isle of Patmos, you see where God begins to reveal to John these things that must be, these things that are coming.

Michael Weedman:

John first starts with the very first few chapters of Revelation. We have to understand the timeframe. The very first three chapters are I believe it's three. The very first three chapters are to the churches that are in the land at the time that this is being written. Now. Granted, we all fit in somewhere. The word of God is full of types and shadows. There are a lot of types and shadows in the word of God that may have been written. Paul wrote to all these churches in the New Testament, you know, the church at Ephesus, the church at Colossus, the church at Corinth, the church in all these churches that he wrote to Philippi. He wrote to these churches, but yet they still matter to us and they still fit in with us, and the word is still relevant to us, because the word of God does not change. He was established in heaven.

Michael Weedman:

This is not something that a group of men got together and wrote. This was written over a time period of 1500 years, more than 1500 years. This was written by multiple authors I think there's 30 something authors and I apologize, because I should have. I've got this all written down. I should have pulled all this out to speak, but I just thought, hey, let's get on here and let's really get into the word of God today. So this is all coming together as I'm speaking to you right now. But the word of God is not something that a group of men just got together and started writing down and said hey, I think it'd be a good idea for you to write about this and for you to write about this and for you to write about that. Let's just put it all together and let's collectively add it and call it the word of God.

Michael Weedman:

Know that the word of God, the scriptures, are established in heaven. They were established from the beginning of time when God spoke these words. Through them, all scripture is inspired by the spirit of God, by the Holy Ghost, and it's profitable for all of us. It is used for doctrine, it is used for edification. This is what the word of God is forever established. Kings and kingdoms will all fade away, they'll all come and they'll all go. They'll die. Men will die and kingdoms will fall, and presidents will come and presidents will go, but the word of God is established in heaven and it will be established in heaven forever more. Thank you, susan.

Michael Weedman:

The book of Revelation, as God is revealing to John and he begins to write these things down under the instruction of God. Even though this was written some 2000 years ago today, it is still just as relevant now as it has ever been, and I believe now it is more relevant to us, especially after this third. The first, second, third chapters are all to the churches that are on the earth at the time of John. It is still relevant, and everything from the fourth chapter on is more relevant to us than it has ever been. All you have to do is turn on the news just for a few minutes and you'll hear and you'll see things that John saw in his visions and he couldn't really explain. You'll hear and you'll see prophecies being fulfilled every single day, prophecies that men for many years have tried to pinpoint and had tried to look. It is easier now to pinpoint prophecy than it has ever been.

Michael Weedman:

I have been in or around the apostolic movement for all of my life, even when my parents weren't in church, my grandparents made sure that I was brought to church and that I was being taught the things of God. I'm blessed in that way. But through all this time, through all everything that's ever been, now more than ever the word is relevant. The end is closer than it has ever been. It's more now than I've ever seen in my life, and I know a lot of people that are a lot older than I am can say that they have never seen things the way they are Prophecies being lined up ever, ever in history. There has never been a time now like now that prophecy is lining up the way that it is now. I mean, it's just amazing. So anyways, back, let me get on point here. I'm rambling and I don't want to do that to us tonight. Sure, I could stop this and rerecord something else, but I really don't feel like that's what I need to do.

Michael Weedman:

Book of Revelation. Now, the very first chapter, the very first verse of the Book of Revelation sums up, in my opinion, sums up the entirety of the Word of God, the very first scripture of the Book of Revelation. This revelation to what God is doing and revealing to John sums up everything from Genesis all the way to the very end, when it says amen. It sums up the entirety of the Word of God. And this is what the scripture says the revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave unto him now him being John to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass, and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant, john. So what is the very entirety of the Bible is wrapped up right here, in this very first sentence of this very first scripture, the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Michael Weedman:

From the very beginning of the Word of God in the Book of Genesis, jesus is being revealed. The scripture, later on in the Book of Revelation, calls him the lamb that was slain from the foundation of the earth, before the earth was ever even formed, whenever the earth was being spoken into existence by the voice of God, which, as a matter of fact, john said in John, chapter one, that all things were made by him and without him was not one thing made that was made, the Word of God, god, jesus, the Word robed in the flesh, everything that was made before it was even formed, before it was even founded. That is the revelation of Jesus Christ Through every part of scripture, through every word. You can go through the entirety of the Bible and it doesn't matter what book you find yourself in you are in a revelation of who Jesus is. That is the point of God, of the word of God. It's to reveal Jesus to the world.

Michael Weedman:

To reveal Jesus from Genesis to Exodus, to Leviticus, to Numbers, to Deuteronomy, to Joshua, to Judges, ruth, samuel, samuel, the Kings, the Chronicles, ezra, nehemiah, esther, job, psalms, proverbs, Ecclesiastes, song of Solomon, isaiah, jeremiah, lamentations, ezekiel, daniel, hosea, joel, amos, obadiah, jonah, micah, nehem, abek, ezekian, zeffania, haggai, zechariah, malachi, all of the Old Testament. Now we know Matthew, Mark, luke and John. That's the life of Jesus, the acts of the apostles, that's the continuance of the miracles of Jesus, and even into the books that John wrote to the churches. You know the church at Rome and the Corinthians, both the letters he wrote that are in the word of God Galatians, ephesians, philippians I'm sorry, all of these words Colossians. The church at Thessalonica. However, you pronounce that Thessalonians. So those two letters, when he writes to Timothy, when he writes to Titus and Philomon, and even the writer of Hebrews and James, and first and second Peter, and first, second, third, john and Jude, all the way until Revelation, to the very end of the word of God.

Michael Weedman:

Every single book, every single scripture, every single jot, every single everything points to Jesus. Creation points to Jesus. The story of Abraham points to Jesus. The story of Moses points to Jesus. The stories and the judges, all of that points to Jesus. The stories of David, the stories of Solomon, the stories of every prophet, jeremiah, and all of these prophets, major and minor, every single one of them points to Jesus. The revelation of Jesus Christ is the entire purpose of the word of God. That when I look into the word of God, when you look into the word of God, no matter where we are in scriptures, it points us to know that Jesus is the whole purpose, he's the whole reason, he's the everything, he's the beginning, he's the end, he's the Alpha, he's the Omega, he's the first, he's the last. It all points to Jesus.

Michael Weedman:

Verses two through 20 of the first chapter of Revelation is really an expansion of verse number one the revelation of Jesus Christ. It explains to us who Jesus is. Verse two who bear record of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ and of all things that he saw as talking about. John, verse three blessed is he that readeth and they that hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things which are written therein, for the time is at hand. Here is the thing about the book of Revelation.

Michael Weedman:

Again, many of you may have heard this. I heard it all my life stay away from the book of Revelation. It's just gonna confuse you. It's just, it's gonna scare you. You're not gonna really know what to do with it. It's just, it's something far beyond your understanding. You'll never really get it yourself right, but the truth is there's a blessing here. There's a blessing, matter of fact. I believe it is a commandment to us. Blessed is he who readeth and he who heareth. This is a word for the preacher or the teacher, as well as the saint or the student. This is a blessing. You're blessed by reading this prophecy. You're blessed by even hearing the words of this prophecy.

Michael Weedman:

Second Timothy when Paul's writing to Timothy, he says this in chapter three, in verse number 16, I believe that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and it is profitable again for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction, for righteousness. And then it goes on to say that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. That includes the book of Revelation. That's not just the Old Testament, that's not just Genesis. When you wanna go back and you wanna hear the story of Abraham and how Father Abraham had many sons and I am one of them, and so are you right so let's just praise the Lord.

Michael Weedman:

That's not just meaning Paul's not just talking about the letters he wrote to the different churches. He wasn't being selfish in saying every scripture that I've written is inspired by the Holy Ghost and it is profitable for you. No, everything from Genesis to Revelation, everything in between, every part of the 66 books that compile the word of God that we have today. It is important, it is profitable for us. It helps us to build up doctrine, it helps us to reprove, it helps us to correct, it helps us to instruct. It actually instructs us in righteousness, and it furnishes us Thoroughly furnishes us that we can do good works through the word of God, verse four let's move forward, john, to the seven churches which are in Asia. Grace be unto you and peace from him, which is, which was and which is to come from the seven spirits which are before his throne. Now.

Michael Weedman:

Paul, in most of his epistles and his letters to the churches, writes, and he says he gives him a little bit of an introduction grace unto you. It's the same thing that John is doing here when he's writing to these churches grace be unto you. It's a greeting, it's an opening he's letting us know. Within this very beginning of his letter he's saying the whole purpose of this is to bring you grace. The whole purpose of this is to bring you peace. The whole purpose of this letter it's not to beat you down, it's not to scare you, it's not to do anything, but to bring you grace. It is by the grace of God that you and I have the word of God. It is by the grace of God that you and I have what we have in the word of God. That is by the grace of God. It says peace from him which is, which was and which is to come.

Michael Weedman:

And again I can bring other scripture in In Hebrews. The writer of Hebrews said Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forevermore. He who was, he who is and he who is to come, verse five and which is that Greek word chi, which means even from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood and man. I could preach for an hour just on that one scripture. I love it and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his father, to whom be glory and dominion forever and ever. Behold, he cometh with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they also, which pierced him, and all the kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, amen. So let's jump up back up to verse five.

Michael Weedman:

I said Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead. I want you to know something Jesus told Nicodemus. Nicodemus, listen to me, my country twang Nicodemus. He said you must be born again. And then, of course, nicodemus said well, how can I be born again? I'm an old man, and you know how can I? As a grown man, am I supposed to enter back into my mother's womb and to be brought out? And that's not what Nicodemus, that's not what Jesus was saying. You must be born again, right? You must be born of the water and of the spirit. You have to be born again.

Michael Weedman:

But Jesus is the firstborn of the dead. Now, what does this mean? Jesus was beaten. He was crucified on a cross. He died for our sins, thank God, thank God that you and I look. I'll pause right here while I'm reading the book of Revelation here and I will bring this out to you and let you know that it is because of the grace of God that Jesus Christ paid the price for yours and my sins, and we ought to thank him for that. We ought to bless him, we ought to praise him, we ought to worship him, we ought to lift up songs to him because he died for our sins. But he didn't just die, he was buried in the grave and he rose again. Praise God, I could preach again. I could preach an hour. Any preacher could preach an hour on just that. If you can't, you probably shouldn't be preaching. But that's beside the point. I gotta behave tonight. That is beside the point.

Michael Weedman:

Jesus is the firstborn of the dead. Jesus was our example as to how to attain righteousness. Now, jesus was the only man to ever live on this earth with a sinless life. He never committed any sin. He was tempted in all points like you and I, but yet he never committed any sin. That's amazing. That was our example. And how do we attain righteousness? Jesus, dying on the cross, gave us that free gift of righteousness. He cleansed us with his blood. He forgave us of our sins and he is the firstborn, first begotten of the dead. That means that there are more that are to come.

Michael Weedman:

Now let's compare this to John 3.16, our favorite scripture. Like the entire world's favorite scripture. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. Now there's a difference in words when you say only begotten son and you say first begotten of the dead. What does begotten mean? It means he was begotten, right. I mean that's really deep.

Michael Weedman:

When the scripture says that Jesus was the only begotten son, that means that Jesus was the only human being to ever have lived and to ever live, ever who. The Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary and they conceived a son that is the only one ever. That's why it says only begotten son. There is no other person on this earth that was ever on this earth or ever will be on this earth that can claim the title begotten son of God. None of us were begotten of God. The Holy Ghost did not overshadow any of our mothers to conceive us. We are not Jesus, we I don't care how good you are, I don't care how perfect you think you are. We are not the begotten son of God. However, we one day will be begotten of death. Conceived through death. Jesus died, he was buried and he rose again.

Michael Weedman:

Now we talk about our new birth. You know our death, burial and resurrection spiritually. But there's coming a day and he goes on to say this that he's. He said he's coming with the clouds and every eye shall see him and they which which pierced him and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, he meant there's coming a day that Jesus is going to return and when he returns, paul said that we will be caught up to meet him in a twinkling, in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye. We'll be caught up to meet him in the clouds. We'll, we'll gather together with him in the clouds again one day. But here's the thing Jesus is the example of what's going to happen when that day comes.

Michael Weedman:

Jesus came back and I'll get into it here in a minute. I'm probably just gonna get through the first chapter, if I get through the first chapter here in this little bit of time, because I'm almost out of time on this podcast. But Jesus was the first one to come back in a glorified body. We're gonna have a glorified body when we meet him again. We're gonna be glorified, changed. Those, those, those who are dead will raise first, and then those who remain will be changed and we'll be caught up to meet him in the air. Thank you, jesus. Let me let me move forward.

Michael Weedman:

Jesus was the first begotten of the dead will eventually become just as he see. Jesus became just like us. He had to become just like us. He became a man who bled and died just like we will. Now I'm not saying we're all gonna be crucified, not the same manner, but we're all flesh. He was tempted in every points, like us he. He felt the sicknesses and the pain, just like we do, but but he was the manifestation of God in the flesh, right, the, the, the image of the invisible. And just as he became like us eventually. The reason why he became like us, to die for us, is so that we could become like him, be resurrected out of this carnality and put on incorruptibility. We'll change from this corruptible being to an incorruptible spiritual being in a moment in Twinkland. Let me move forward. He's made us kings and priests unto God, his father, and to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. He cometh with the clouds, and so on.

Michael Weedman:

Verse eight Jesus speaks. He says I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, sayeth the Lord, which is, which was and which is to come, the Almighty. Here's what he says in verse nine I, john, who also am your brother and companion, and tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the aisle that is called Patmos, for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. Now, he could have easily said I was in the aisle of Patmos because I was, I was, I was, I was beaten and I was tried, and you guys were never thrown in a pit of tar. I, I, I've got one up on you guys, man, I'm, I'm more faithful to Jesus because of what, what, what has happened to me? He could have easily said something like that, but no, he said I'm your brother and I'm, I'm with you in the patience of Jesus Christ, I'm with you in tribulation, I, I'm, I'm experiencing the same things that you're going to experience, and it is all for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. It wasn't because I was dealt a bad hand, it wasn't because I was such a bad person. No, it was for the glory of God and that's something we've got to get into our hearts to, and I'm going to try to get through chapter one here real quick.

Michael Weedman:

I was in the spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet, saying I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, and what thou see, as to write in a book and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia, unto Ephesus and unto Smyrna, and into Pergamus and under Thy, tyra and Sardis, and unto Philadelphia and under Laodicea. And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me and being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks which represents the seven churches, and in the midst of the seven candlesticks, one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, in Gert, about, with the paps of a golden girdle, with a Gert golden girdle. His head and his hairs were like white, like wool, as white as snow. His eyes were as a flame of fire and his feet like undefined brass, and if they burned as they, as if they burned in a furnace, and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars, and out of his mouth, when a sharp two-edged sword in his continence was as the sun, shineth in his strength. And when I saw him, I fell in his feet dead, and he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, fear not, I am the first and the last. I'm he that liveth and was dead. Behold, I am alive forevermore, amen. And I have the keys of hell and of death Right, the things which thou has seen and the things which are the things which shall be hereafter, the mystery of the seven stars which thou sawst in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the seven candlesticks which thou sawst are the seven churches.

Michael Weedman:

Now, that's the end of the first chapter, but I want to. I want to real fast, as I wind this thing up, I want to real fast just kind of talk to us about verses 12 through 16. This is defining Jesus's appearance when John turns around and see, now remember, this is the same John who laid his head on the bosom of Jesus at the last supper. This is the same John who wrote in his earlier epistle that he was the disciple who Jesus loved. This is the same John that had that relationship with Jesus that he could lay his head down on his bosom at the last supper. That's that same John. But when he turned, he saw a Jesus that he did not recognize and it scared him. He saw Jesus that was clothed down to his feet with a garment and had a golden girdle. He saw a Jesus whose head and his hairs were white like wool, eyes were as a flame of fire, his feet were like fine brass, his voice like many waters. His right in his right hand he had seven stars and out of his mouth a sharp, two-edged sword. His continence was as the sun. This was the same Jesus, but this Jesus was glorified.

Michael Weedman:

Now, when you and I put on incorruptibility, when you and I are glorified, whenever we have our glorified bodies, we're not gonna look like this. We're not gonna look like the ancient of days. We're not gonna look like the Son of man, which is a reference to what Daniel had prophesied about. We're not gonna look like this. That's not what we're gonna look like, but we will be in a glorified state. Now here's the thing People want to talk about angels and seeing angels and everything like that. And if you've seen some of the biblical now, some angels would look like you and I. And the reason why I know this is because the scripture says to be careful when you entertain strangers, because you could be entertaining angels unawares or unknowingly.

Michael Weedman:

John turns around and he sees this Jesus that scares him to death. I mean literally to the point where he falls on his face and he thinks he's gonna die. And Jesus lays his hand on him and said he said he's a fear, not, I'm the first and the last. And here's what he says I am he that liveth and was dead. Behold, I'm alive forevermore. Yeah, you can't tell me that's not Jesus. I don't care what you say. Well, I was just an angel. No, that was Jesus. He confirmed it. He said I'm he that liveth. I died. You saw me die, john, you were there when I died, but guess what? I'm alive forevermore. Jesus is alive forevermore. They tried killing him. It didn't stick. He said amen, and I have the keys of hell and death. And then he tells him those things that he's seen. I want you to write down. And he tells him the mystery. He tells him. He says you know? And there's the thing about revelation. Again, I said it earlier and I'll say it again Many people say stay away from book of revelation.

Michael Weedman:

Stay away from book of revelation. Stay away why? Jesus gives us the answer to the mystery. Jesus tells us what we need to know. He reveals these things to the spirit of God, reveals. If you are hungry enough to hear and hungry enough to listen, that's just the beginning, because revelation comes. Hey, I want to say thank you for joining us tonight on the five fold podcast.
